At the 2025 Grammys there was another example of women in metal not being taken quite as seriously by the mainstream as men. There were only two women nominated in the metalcore category, who were then completely confused by a reporter on the red carpet. Spiritbox singer Courtney LaPlante, identified by the reporter as Poppy, spontaneously accepted her fate after a brief look of confusion and answered the questions that were meant for Poppy. Ironically some questions dealt with the topic of why women in metal don‘t get that much recognition. Courtney managed the interview with humor, praised her female competition while giving her own band a shoutout and drew attention to important feminist issues in male-dominated areas.
