For this International Women’s Day, also known as the feminist day of action, I wanted to create a special poster and had the chance to use Olgas surreal, otherworldly, and deeply beautiful photographs of different women. Each woman is an absolutely stunning work of art in her own frame, yet together they form a collective that becomes even stronger through unity.
In a reality where psychos occupy positions of power, narcissistic men are everywhere, and even the “good guys” turn out to be worse than the rest, life as a woman can often be exhausting and draining.
So let’s take a moment to focus on ourselves and embrace the feminine power that is not only expressed through protest, but also through self-determination, vulnerability, care, art, and emotional depth. Traits such as fragility or emotionality (historically used to diminish women) are consciously reframed: sensitivity becomes strength, emotionality becomes depth, and softness becomes an intentional form of power, showing that beauty and gentleness are not signs of weakness, but expressions of strength and self-determination.
This idea is also reinforced by the use of the typeface „Flor de Ruina“ by Felipe Sanzana from Velvetyne Type Foundry. The typeface is inspired by the life that emerges from fractures and fissures: its glyphs conceptually follow the life cycle of a flower, from germination to bloom, to withering, and finally to breaking apart. Designed to disrupt automatic reading, it slows the viewer down and draws attention to both the form and meaning of the words. By finding beauty in discomfort and intentionally interrupting the reading process, the typeface mirrors the core idea of the concept: that from vulnerability, rupture, and what is often perceived as weakness, new strength, depth, and resilience can grow.
